UVG Art Gallery is pleased to present solo-exhibition Unbound Observer by emerging Russian artist from Saint-Petersburg (Russia) Daniil Arkhipenko. The artist belongs to famous Russian art movement “The New Academy”, that have been already shown at big retrospective at Ludwig Museum in 2015 with the support of the UVG Art Gallery.
The Unbound Observer series was presented at the international art fair Cosmoscow in 2017 and had positive reviews among the professional community. The series by Daniil Arkhipenko is the basics for interior design of subway station Novokrestovskaya in Saint-Petersburg, (Russia) that was opened at 13th of May on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup.
The ongoing exhibition of Daniil Arkhipenko is the result of the art residence at the UVG Art Gallery and new works are inspired by amazing skyscapes and nature of Budapest. Daniil Arkhipenko, as an artist of young generation of the New Academy (Saint-Petersburg), is interested in the world artistic heritage. He learns from old masters the subtleties of transferring various picturesque textures and inherits the tradition of optical experiments. The artist uses the expressive capabilities of such modern technologies as lightboxes and stereo-vario lenticular printing that gives new vision for classical oil paintings. As in the landscapes of the Lesser Dutch, the staff figures harmonize with the endless landscapes - man co-exists with nature. Small figures fall like shadows, sometimes luminous, like a direct projection of the viewer-observer, giving him of the sense of belonging to the harmony of surrounding elements and elements of nature.
